Our Helper

A couple was making plans to build a house but the man was hit with a brain tumor. He was a gracious Christian who never complained. To the day of his departure, he had an unbelievable spirit. His widow decided to go through with the plans but she knew nothing about building a house so she called a fine Christian man who is a retired builder: He is helping her build the house, something she could never do on her own. Even from the secular point of view, there are times when we need help and it is a blessing to have good friends that are there to help us. Jesus gives us 24/7 road assistance. He told His disciples, “I will not abandon you like orphans…I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. This magnificent helper is the HOLY SPIRIT, the mysterious One who moves like the wind. We cannot see HIM but we can see the evidence of HIS presence. I saw Him moving last night. Thank You father for our helper.

• In preparation for our REVIVAL we are going to do 24 days of prayer–praying all 24 hours of the day. This begins October 9th and goes through November 1st. You can sign up in the foyer. We need at least 24 intercessors: 48 would be even better.

• Mission to the Park….Saturday…Leave DBC at 7:30 am.
• Today we pray for the WORLD…according to Paul in Romans 11, the Jews are coming back to God which means coming to Christ. We are talking one great REVIVAL. Let’s pray for Jews to turn to Jesus. We need them folks. If we could get them fired up, they could help us get the gospel to the world in a hurry. Read Romans 11 in the Message: it will bless you.
• Congratulations to John and Cindy on the birth of their grandchild…Erin had a little girl last night. I intended to be there but I had a little accident and didn’t get to go any where.

 

SWISHING

A woman goes to the Doctor, worried about her husband’s temper. The Doctor asks: “What’s the problem? The woman says: “Doctor, I don’t know what to do. Every day my husband seems to lose his temper for no reason. It scares me.” The Doctor says: “I have a cure for that. When it seems that your husband is getting angry, just take a glass  of water and start swishing it in your mouth. Just swish and swish but don’t swallow it until he either leaves the room or calms down.” Two weeks later the woman comes back to the doctor looking fresh and reborn. The woman says: “Doctor that was a brilliant idea! Every time my husband started losing it, I swished with water. I swished and swished, and he calmed right down! How does a glass of water do that?” The Doctor says: “It is not the water. It’s the fact that you have to keep your mouth shut while swishing the water…that’s what does the trick…”

Absolutely Amazing!

COMMENTARY: Do you want to read a chapter in the O.T. that can awe the mind and leave you with a feeling of wonder, then read Deuteronomy 28 in a modern version; read it in every English version you can get your hands on. Moses was a great leader, law-giver, priest, theologian, teacher, judge but but he was also a prophet in the class of Isaiah and Jeremiah. Deuteronomy 28 is filled with unbelievable prophecies of Israel, most of them fulfilled 1,000 years later. WOW!

1. Israel becoming a nation with a king. [This happened some 500 years after Moses predicted it]
2. The disobedience and downfall of the nation.
3. The Invasion from the North
4. The Captivity
5. The Dispersion
6. The survival of the remnant
7. The persecution of the remnant
8. The Hell and Horror of the sieges [Ben-hadad, Nebuchadnezzar and Titus]
9. The spirit of fear in the heart of the surviving remnant
10. The surviving remnant turning back to Egypt [world]

The last time the JEWS FOR JESUS visited DBC, I ask the man why Jews dispersed in America were so liberal. They are block voters and it is not the republicans that they support. They support abortion on demand, gay marriage and make up practically the whole of the ACLU. He said, “Pastor, they are  afraid. They are terrified of the religious-right who they believe controls the republican party [not so] and they associate the religious-right with Hitler.” Extremely insecure people are so consumed by their fears that they are not open to truth? Their fear creates a mental and spiritual block. Jesus prayed on the cross, “Father forgive them, they do not know what they are doing.” They still don’t know what they are doing. They support a president that is anti-semitic. There is a good chance that he is anti-american. I am no prophecy expert but I believe that God is going to remove the vail from the eyes of the Jews and some day, I hope soon, they will see that Jesus is the Messiah and that the world is not their friend. LORD, send REVIVAL to America!

EXTRA

• We’ve been getting so  much rain that I transplanted some plants which ususally brings on a draught. I plowed the garden Thursday night with it threatening to rain the entire time but it did not, same thing Friday. I told June Friday night, “If it doesn’t rain, I’m going to have to water plants tomorrow.” She said, “It’s already raining, you just can’t hear it.” I don’t need to water any plants. The LORD transformed our front yard into a pool in a matter of minutes. Our God is an awesome God.
