Scripture

Some day there will be a King who rules with integrity and national leaders who govern with justice.

~Isaiah 32:1, GNT

Quote

There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind.

~C.S. Lewis

There is no question, at least not in my mind, that our congress is sorry; they are useless. They have done nothing to stop Obama. The Richard Shelby ads were a joke, “Richard Shelby, standing true to traditional values and stopping Obama.” For all we know, Shelby could be dead. Have you heard anything on the news about Shelby stopping Obama? I didn’t think so and we just re-elected him to six more years of doing nothing other than getting some pork to his friends.

Shelby is one of many who are on the take. Big corporations own our politicians. Our system is corrupt. We are operating by the Golden Rule–He who has the gold rules. Isaiah gave us some very promising prophecies in Isaiah 32:

  1. Some day we are going to have a Leader who will rule with integrity. Barring a radical conversion, it will not be Obama. He wouldn’t know integrity if it bit him on the neck.  [32:1]
  2. Leaders will govern with justice. [32:1]
  3. Leaders will protect their constituents, not fleece them. [32:2]
  4. Leaders will have their eyes and ears open to the needs of the people. [32:3]
  5. Leaders will act with understanding. [32:4]
  6. Politicians will say what they mean. [32:4]
  7. Leaders will be separated, the fools and scoundrels will no longer be honored. [32:5]
  8. Leaders will no longer insult the LORD. [32:6]
  9. Leaders will no longer take advantage of the helpless, keeping them from their rights. [32:7]
  10. Leaders will be honest and stand up for what is right. [32:8]

This will all happen some day, but probably not today. It will not happen without the intervention of Jesus. It is something to which we can look forward.

SCRIPTURE

For the Lord is our judge, our lawgiver, and our king.

~Isaiah 33:22

QUOTE

The great difficulty lies is this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.

~James Madison

COMMENTARY

Does the name Charles Montesquieu ring a bell. He was a French Philosopher who wrote a book entitled The Spirit Of The Laws. It is not a part of our studies in modern America but our founding fathers were very familiar with this work. The views of Montesquieu greatly impacted the formation of our great republic. Montesquieu acknowledges man’s depravity and quotes Jeremiah 17:9. He believed that a republic would have a chance of survival if there was a separation of powers. He got the idea for our model from Isaiah 33:22, For the Lord is our judge, our lawgiver, and our king.  I doubt if we see this truth in the public  text-books anytime soon. Liberals don’t like the truth; it never testifies in their behalf.

Speaking of liberals…In the State of Illinois, Republican’s don’t exist. If you love democratic socialism and a one party system, you could consider moving to Illinois or better still Chicago. Before you do, you might want to do a little research.

  • There are more people on welfare in Illinois than there are working people.
  • There are more homicides in Chicago than any city in U.S. [over 500 annually] and they have some of the strictest gun laws.
  • The Chicago school system in the worse in the US and their average teacher makes $110,000.00 per year.
  • The Illinois State pension fund in 78 billion dollars in debt; again, they lead the U.S.
  • Cook County Sales tax is the highest in the U.S.
  • Former Governor George Ryan is in prison [15 years].
  • He was replaced by Rob Blagojevick who was also sent to prison for corruption.
  • U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson, Jr. and his wife were also forced to resign and sent to prison for embezzlement and income tax evasion.

One more thought: Obama was born out of this political culture.

  • As Dr. T. Ray Keenum says, “We have no control over the weather” so let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
  • One question: do you really think our planet has a fever? I think I will send Al some pictures of global warming. We have about 4 inches in our front yard. There is no way the boy could have graduated Harvard without cheating. He is either dumb as a rock or a slick as an eel.

SCRIPTURE

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

QUOTE

I do not choose to be a common man. It is my birth-right to be uncommon.

COMMENTARY

I have no desire to be like anyone else other than Christ and I can never be exactly like Him. He is the unique Son of God and He created and recreated me to be unique. My goal is like is not security; it is to faithfully obey Christ. I have no desire to be a ward of the State; to be humbled by dependence upon them, or to be dumbed down to the life of a slave. I am willing to take the calculated risk, to dream, to build and yes even to fail. I don’t need a government that bails me out, I need one that ensures my freedom and stays out of my personal life. Government is good so long as it is the servant but it makes a cruel and despotic master. My Master is in heaven, not Washington. I prefer the challenges and even the persecution of following Christ over the stale, lifeless, dull existence of being a dupe of the State.

EXTRA

Well they had a work night on Tuesday and although I have had nothing except long days lately, I did show up and offered my expertise. I was told to stay away from the saws. I was running a skill saw before David Wood was born. I started building forms for my Daddy when I was 16 years old. I have cut crown mold with the old square saw and a wooden box. I go up there to help and they brush me aside, same as tell me “I am not needed.” No problem, I can handle rejection and I don’t carry grudges but their day is coming. I wish I could live long enough to see this bunch of young bucks be treated like they are old and in the way. All I am saying is–what goes around comes around. I tell you something else: they best not call me to clean up their mess or lug those chairs up the steps because this old bird aint going to show up. If I can’t cut, I don’t clean. You can push a real man only so far and I have had it! I am sick and tired of being everyone’s punching bag. David Wood is a control freak, he and I had words last night after church and if he keeps messing with me, somebody is going to get hurt. Surely, he wouldn’t hit a man with bad knees.
