Don’t Be Stupid
June 5, 2016
Scripture
Don’t be stupid like a horse or a mule, which must be controlled with bit and bridle to make it submit.
Psalms 32:9, GNT
Quote
God loves obedience.
~Jim Nesbitt
There are two primary ways to learn, by instruction or experience. Many of us are like the horse and mule, we have to learn things the hard way. We learn by trial and error which can be very painful. There is a better way: follow God’s instruction with prompt obedience. The LORD will guide us daily if we will submit but the more we rebel, the greater our suffering. The way of the transgressor is hard. Your happiness in this life definitely depends on your obedience to God.

Scripture
Sometimes it takes a painful experience to make us change our ways.
~Proverbs 20:30, GNT
Quote
There is only one thing more painful than learning by experience and that is not learning by experience.
~Archibald McLeish
My life documents the truth of today’s verse. Some people learn from instruction but others like myself have to find out the hard way. Once up on a time, I wanted a big house. My daddy told me that I didn’t need a big; to stay where I was until my kids got grown and then build a little house. I learned the hard way, with the big house comes a big payment and a lot of upkeep. This is just one example: there are a dozen more but I had rather not talk about them. I think the verse speaks for itself.
