The Lord said to the man, “You listened to your wife and ate fruit from that tree. And so, the ground will be under a curse because of what you did. As long as you live, you will have to struggle to grow enough food. Your food will be plants,
but the ground will produce thorns and thistles.

~Genesis 3:17-18, CEV

For every sin there is a consequence.

my thoughts red

Adam disobeyed God and this one act of rebellion brought sin into the world affecting not only Adam but all his descendants. The Garden of Eden had no weeds, not nut grass, crab grass, thorns or thistles but Adams transgression brought a curse on the ground. I love to garden and we are cursed with thorns and thistles–our curse is crab grass, nut grass and weeds. I have a hard time growing tomatoes but I am good at growing weeds. Every time I go into the garden, I am reminded of Adams sin.

Paul said in Galatians 3:13–But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When he was hung on the cross, he took upon himself the curse for our wrongdoing. What did the Roman soldiers place on his head in mockery, a crown of thorns. Adams sin hurt us all but none more than Christ who took upon Himself our curse by wearing a crown of thorns and dying on the cross.
