SCRIPTURE
And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” The man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.”
~Genesis 3:11-12, NASB
QUOTE
Sin is definitely in every single heart that beats.
~Billy Graham
COMMENTARY
God will hold us accountable just as He did Adam. You may take your sin lightly but God does not. He ask Adam a simple question, “Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” Simple question and very direct. It deserved a direct answer and that answer is in the last two words that Adam spoke, “I ate.” God said “did you eat” and all Adam had to say was “I ate” but that is not all he said. First he says, “The woman YOU gave me, she gave to me”. It may be subtle, but Adam is blaming God for his sin and he throws Eve under the bus in the same breath. Do we think that alibis, excuses, blaming others or just flat out denial of our sin is going to change the consequences. If so, you need to think again.

We had good services but I was disappointed in the attendance. We do have some sickness but it’s mostly the same old same old: self-interest before His interest. Billy Graham agrees with me that this selfish inclination is the essence of sin. We have so many needs, I don’t understand how any believer cannot be concerned about REVIVAL. It is what it is which gives us all the more reason to pray. On a lighter side, I blogged about GIFT CARDS and mentioned that I had one in my billfold that did not get thrown away like my Huntsville Hospital parking card when my sweetie changed my billfold out a few months back. She came and ask for the card and I gave it to her; it had $50 on it and she has been to McDonald’s twice. Remember the service will begin at 7:00; pre-service prayer meeting at 6:30. Pray for REVIVAL and MY HOPE.

SCRIPTURE
“Because your men explored the land for forty days, you must wander in the wilderness for forty years—a year for each day, suffering the consequences of your sins.”
~Numbers 14:34, NLT
QUOTE
No sin is small. It is against an infinite God, and may have consequences immeasurable. No grain of sand is small in the mechanism of a watch.
~Jeremy Taylor
COMMENTARY
The unfaithful spies spend 40 days searching out the land but they brought back an evil report and destroyed the faith and courage of the Israelites. For this sin, they were given 40 years in the wilderness of wandering. We always seem to reap more than we sow. One sin can have enormous consequences. Adam and Eve committed one sin and we are still reaping the consequences. The Jews said at the trial of Jesus, “Let His blood be on us and our children.” This one sin by one generation has affected every generation of Jews since.
