Then he put another parable before them. “The kingdom of Heaven,” he said, “is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while his men were asleep his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the crop came up and ripened, the weeds appeared as well. Then the owner’s servants came up to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where did all these weeds come from?

my thoughts red

The weeds in our garden are related to the curse; to Adams transgression. There were no weeds until Adam sinned. Can you imagine a garden or flower bed without weeds. Every Spring, I plant seeds in my garden which come up but so do the weeds and I do not plant them. Gardening would be easy if it were not for weeds. A garden is not the issue, the parable above is about the devil sowing tares {Weeds} among the wheat. There are tares in every congregation and we can’t pull them up. As a matter of fact, we cannot identify them to pull them up. Jesus instructed us to leave them alone until harvest and then His Holy Angels will sort them out.

I can assure the devil is not going to allow anything we do to be easy. He is our perpetual antagonist, our adversary and accuser. Praise the LORD, his days are numbered. No weeds in heaven.

  • Another hot one and they say its going to get worse next week. I have made a vow not to complain about the hot dry weather but it may be hard to keep. I do praise the LORD for A/C, electricity and iced tea.
  • It is official: AWANA is moving to Sunday Night this fall. This means no more Chick-Filet suppers which will be a disappointment to some but I believe Mandy is going to be able to live with it. The new season will begin August 16 with a swim party at the Hartselle pool. This is for the entire church. Then AWANA will meet twice before Labor Day.
  • There is no Senior Adult fellowship in June or July. No Golden Girls in July.
  • FATHERS DAY schedule: LCBS at 9:15 and worship at 10:15. No Deacon’s meeting and no pm services. I will be teaching Jason’s class this Sunday. I am excited about it.
