Glory To God

December 14, 2015

Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

~Luke 2:14, NLT

“A man can no more diminish God’s glory by refusing to worship Him than a lunatic can put out the sun by scribbling ‘darkness’ on the wall of his cell…”

~C.S. Lewis

God begets glory by His very nature and essence. Can a man stare at the glory of the sun without going blind?  God created the sun, thus His glory is infinitely greater. We don’t need to fret about God’s receiving the glory He deserves: ultimately, He will get glory.

The angels have not experienced redemption but they know things experientially that we don’t. Right now, we walk by faith but eventually our faith will give way to sight and we will know what the angels know. Without hesitation or reservation: angels give glory to God.

Danville Baptist Church has just cause to “Give Glory to God.” I doubt if we are angel-class glory givers, but we can give it our best shot.

Thank You LORD for removing two mountains. We give you glory and praise. Amen!

  • WOW, What a day! One mountain was moved into the depths of the sea and another is crumbling. Buford Burgess, at age 81, was gloriously baptized in obedience to our LORD’s command. A second mountain has been moved, our Mission Offering was $5, 874.00. Unofficially we have $29,000.00. Thank YOU Jesus. Praise God from whom all blessing flow!
  • A lot of grief and sorrow this past week: I went to the funeral home right after lunch yesterday, thinking there would be no long line: I was wrong! I stood [and sat] in line for an hour. I know every member of the Lewis family and most of the grandkids. Mrs. Roylean Lewis was born May 1, 1924 and departed this sin cursed world December 10, 2015. Mrs. Lewis loved life and people. There was a huge turn out for the visitation which speaks volumes about this family.
  • Drove home last night with Momar on my heart: Charles would have been at the Christmas play. If those grand’s were in something, he would be there to support them. Let’s all covenant to pray for Suzanne this week. I cannot imagine her grief.
  • We saw two mountains come down yesterday but there are others and one is an unspoken. Again, I think it will take a miracle for these mountains to move but we saw God move two yesterday. The third mountain on our list was for Keri to get the treatment she needs. Their insurance would not pay. Let’s pray for something to change.
  • I had a great visit with Gary and Jan Garner yesterday evening late. Gary is having some good days but still has a bad one every now and then. He goes to get the PET scan results Tuesday. Let’s pray for good news.
  • The KIDS did absolutely superb on their CHRISTMAS PLAY last night [which gave glory to God] and  we had an awesome crowd! I left after the service because of my back.  June helped serve and she said we ran out of food. We should have gotten more pizza but we had no idea we would have 250 show up. Largest crowd ever for a Children’s Christmas Play.
