God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.
~I Peter 4:10, NLT

The church that lives simply for itself, is bound to die a spiritual death and sink into complacency and corruption.

Madison Academy has a senior basketball player headed for Michigan State. I heard his coach speak yesterday in the press conference announcing the young man’s intent to play for Michigan State. The coach talked not only about the young man’s ability but his work ethic and then he shared this statement…
Everyone has a gift, we need to discover our gift, develop our gift and then deliver our gift. Gifts are for sharing. You have at least one gift related to ministry…giving, serving, showing mercy, encouragement or showing hospitality. Paul said [I Cor. 12:7} “A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.”
A bell’s not a bell ’til you ring it,
A song’s not a song ’til you sing it,
Love in your heart wasn’t put there to stay,
Love isn’t love ’til you give it away!
~Oscar Hammerstein

  • Joe David visited hospitals yesterday and I checked on Fletcher Hill. He is pretty low but he is at home surrounded by family and I know that is what he would want. Gary Garner has not had a good week. Paul Holladay [Kenny’s brother] has cancer in one hip and one lung. Bill Wilbourn is still at DGH. Kane will be in Memphis today for another chemo. Ray has a brother in law who lives in Double Springs who has cancer: his name is John Sudduth. My nephew Heath has surgery December 15.
  • THE GATHERING tonight at 6:30. Had a record crowd last Wednesday and a good service.
  • Luke 14 this Sunday night at 5:30.
  • June was paying attention yesterday and Peggy was at the door, Chloe came to the Kitchen and told Big Mama, “there is a Granny at the door, she wants to see you.” Night before last she was performing “Let It Go” from Frozen. I tried to help and she turned around and said, “Granddaddy, hush, this is my show.”
