No Cure For Stupid

November 6, 2015

“My people are foolish and do not know me,” says the LORD. “They are stupid children who have no understanding. They are clever enough at doing wrong, but they have no idea how to do right!”

~Jeremiah 4:22, NLT

The ignorant can be educated, the crazy can be medicated but there is no cure for stupid.

~Don Morris

The Sadducees tried to trap Jesus with a goofy story about a woman who was married to seven brothers [one at a time] but had children by none. The question was: whose wife will she be in the resurrection? Jesus said,In the age to come, those worthy of being raised from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage. Then He said, But now, as to whether the dead will be raised—even Moses proved this when he wrote about the burning bush. Long after Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had died, he referred to the Lord as ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’ So he is the God of the living, not the dead, for they are all alive to him.”

The Sadducees claimed to believe the Torah, the first five books of the bible, attributed to Moses. Jesus goes back and quotes a verse out of Exodus, about Moses, that proves there is a resurrection. Even the Pharisees and Scribes, who believed in the resurrection of the dead, marveled at Jesus answer. The Sadducees, who believed in annihilation, didn’t dare ask any more questions because Jesus answer exposed their stupidity.

  • Short blogs are like short sermons: much harder to prepare but it’s definitely my goal. My excuse for this one is that I got in late last night.
  • Had a good visit with Gary Garner yesterday. He has had his third treatment. He has one more on the 25th of November and then they do a PET scan to see if he need additional treatments.
  • Normal schedule Sunday beginning with deacons meeting at 7:45 and AWANA and visitation at 5:30. The visitors cards are working. We’ve added people to the phone tree, DIGEST and made two visits that were requested.
  • Joe David, Myself, the Youth and anyone who wants to help are going to be doing yards on November 14. We have one lined up but there is a possibility we could do two. If you need help, let us know.
