He Is Faithful

October 18, 2015

What if some were unfaithful? Will their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? By no means! Although everyone is a liar, let God be proved true.

~Romans 3:3-4, NRSV

Knowing that God is faithful relieves me of anxiety.

~Josh McDowell

Our default setting is to  be less than honest. Our insecurities prompt us to shade the truth. Abraham lied about his wife. It was not a complete lie, part of what he said was true but it was misleading. Jacob lied his brother cried. David lied and his baby died. Peter lied to save his hide.  Our insecurities convince us that it is in our best interest to cover the truth. We fear truth; we fear being found out. Those who think they are beyond deceit are the most deceived. We’ve all broken promises at one time or another but God is not a promise breaker; he is the ultimate Promise Keeper.

God cannot lie. It is one of the very few impossible things for Him to do. It is so amazing to study history and the bible at the same time. History reveals that God is true. His word is being fulfilled everyday. The Jews have not been faithful to Him but that will not stop Him from keeping His promise. There is a believing generation of Jews coming. I promise you, Israel has a future. I’m not so sure about the USA but I am sure about Israel. God will keep His promises to Abraham.

  • I didn’t make all the rounds yesterday but I did check on Marlon Cole. He is hurting [back] but very thankful to be alive. I think the thing he is most thankful for is that Morgan is OK. Shelly and Mason are very happy campers as well. It was a bad wreck and someone could have been killed. I will make an effort to check on the other sick folks today.
  • Kane Update: Labs look good today. Dr. hopes the ultrasound shows colon is good Monday he can start chemo. Maybe home next week but I am not counting on it yet. Pray he starts eating soon; they are concerned about all the weight he has lost.
  • Baptism today {Lord willing}. I went up last night to check on water and the heater had cut itself off as it does from time to time but we rebooted and everything should be fine.
  • Deacons meeting at 7:45, donuts at 8:30, LCBS 9:15, Worship 10:15 and 6:15. AWANA and VISITATION at 5:30.
  • I ran by to see Ty, Josie and Lori and Ty was doing a running commentary on the game: Joe David said, “Son, stop telling what just happened, I am watching the game.” Ty said, “I’m talking to granddaddy.” The boy can think on his feet.
