SCRIPTURE

Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you?

~Galatians 3:1, NLT

QUOTE

“You want to mess up the minds of your children? Rear them in a legalistic, tight context of external religion, where performance is more important than reality. Pretend to be spiritual and train your children to do the same.  Act one way but live another. And you can count on it – emotional and spiritual damage will occur.”

~ Chuck Swindoll

my thoughts red

Paul was upset with the Galatian believers; after responding to the gospel of grace, they were falling back into legalism. Legalism is the enemy of grace; it is as lethal to a church as liberalism.

A man dressed in blue jeans walks into a bank to transact business. The officer he needs to see is not in so he graciously said to the teller, “I will come back later but could you validate my parking ticket?” She said, “I am sorry, but bank policy does not allow us to validate a ticket when no transaction has been made and you have not made a transaction.” John said, “I think you need to make an exception because I came here with the intent to do business and the reason I have not is on you not me.” The teller stood firm, “A rule is a rule and I will not validate your ticket without a transaction.” As a result of the tellers rigidness, John made a transaction; he closed out his account which was 1.5 million dollars. John’s full name was John Akers, then C.E.O. of IBM. I wonder if the teller got to keep her job? My guess would be no!

  • FATHER’S DAY schedule light: LCBS at 9:15 and worship at 10:15. Joe David is preaching. We start BLOCK PARTY offering Sunday.
  • Tracey and Keri are on their way home. The block was successful we think.
  • Looking forward to LCBS Sunday. The lesson is a little harder to get into but once you really dig, it comes to life. I will be teaching Jason’s class and Gregg will be teaching our class.
  • Posted two new TOP TENS: one is on PRINCIPLES TO LIVE BY and the other is HEALTHLY FOODS. You cannot believe everything you hear on the net but I listened to a doctor who made sense. He says that no diet is going to work on your belly until you get your liver cleansed. These are the herbs he mentioned: Milk Thistle [never heard of it], Selenium [never heard of it either], and Turmeric [I have heard of this one]. There where two more but I missed them.
