God’s Definition Of Marriage

But ‘God made them male and female’ from the beginning of creation.‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.”

~Mark 10:6-9, NLT

“True followers of Jesus Christ, whose salvation is based entirely upon God’s Word, cannot endorse same-sex marriage, regardless of what our President, the Congress, the Supreme Court, the media or the latest Gallup poll says about the matter.”

~Franklin Graham

For those of us who believe the bible to be the inspired, inerrant word of God and that morality is based on certain absolute principles woven into the fabric of the universe; there is no need for us to define marriage. Our Creator established the family as the first institution. Jesus, in Mark 10, is quoting Genesis 2:24, This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one. Note what the LORD says, A man [male] leaves his father [male] and mother [female] to be joined to his wife [female]. This is God’s definition of marriage.

No denomination, no church and certainly no pastor has the authority to change God’s definition of marriage. I am really disappointed is some folks who claim to be Christians who suggest that the church must change its position on this issue. The argument that we are behind the times is ludicrous: time has no effect on morality. Lying has always been wrong and so has stealing and committing murder. If we take issue with God on one sin, where are we going to stop? God created us in His image but now we are trying to create a god in our image.

Liberals know two bible verses: [1] “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged.” [Matthew 7:1] This refers to our judging one another, it is not a reference to God’s judgment: trust me, God will judge us. [2] God is love. [I John 4:8]. God is love but He does not love every thing; He does not love sin. When Isaiah had his temple vision, the angelic being were crying holy, holy, holy. God’s holiness is the attribute that holds everything together. Before God can be anything else, He must be holy. He could not love good if He did not hate evil. Read the entire bible and study the whole counsel of God, don’t look for a text to support what you believe. I’ll have to do a part II because there is a lot more to be said on this subject but I know you do not like long blogs, or long sermons.

Thug Life is better than Bud Light

  • Keri Callahan goes to Vanderbilt on Thursday for evaluation: Don Fields goes in Friday morning at HH heart by-pass surgery.
  • There will be a State wide Marriage Rally in Montgomery on June 6 at 3:00 pm. I will not be one of the speakers. After my speech last Sunday, I will be more of background personality. I speak the truth but we are not sure that the love is resonating. I do believe that Jesus loves everyone and everyone needs to repent in order to experience His love.
  • I attended two COLS yesterday. The first was Audrey Hogan Tomlinson. Bro. Scotty did a great job in that service. Audrey father was a Hogan and mother was a Holladay. Audrey’s grandson Justin attends DBC. Then I was at Mrs. Odie Irene Dutton Pope’s COLS. I think Dana planned the service and it was a good one. All the music was good. Guess what, Gregg is kin to the Popes. Gregg’s grandmother and Robert’s grandmother was first cousins. I have come to the conclusion that Gregg is kin to everyone South of 36. If the boy decides to run for office, all he’ll have to do to win is get his kinfolk to vote for him.
  • Bumped into a lovely lady at the Tomlinson Service who made my day: she said, “I’ve been reading your blog.” What an encouragement. It makes me want to keep blogging.
  • We know that SENIOR DAY is on Sunday morning May 17th and we think Baccalaureate will be that night.
  • Pray for VBS June 8-12.
