COMMENTARY

Yesterday, I was honored to be a part of a Celebration Of Life Service for one of or few remaining WWII veterans. Hollis Dean Jarnigan of Cherokee, Alabama was promoted Monday. Hollis was a member of the 43 Infantry Division of the U.S. Army and was stationed in the South Pacific. During Hollis military service, he was awarded two Purple Hearts. As I rode home from Cherokee with my new chauffeur Jehu June, I felt regret for two things: [1] I never talked to Hollis about his military service and of course he never brought the subject up: Heros never see themselves as heros. [2] I wished I had made more effort during the holidays to visit with Hollis. My last visit with him was Easter a year ago and he was doing great. Hollis was a “Refreshing Spirit,” a breath of fresh air. He always seemed so content and happy even in the nursing home. We are losing a generation who knew how to serve and sacrifice. I think they are referred to as the great generation and so they should be. Today I solute Hollis Jarnigan and all those who have served in the Military. Thank you for your sacrifice and service. May you always be appreciated.

AWESOME PRAISE SERVICE LAST NIGHT…OVER THE TOP

Every able bodied member of DBC should have been helping with AWANA or at the GATHERING. I can’t think of but two things that might keep people from soaking in those divine rays; one would be pure ignorance [have no idea what’s going on or what kind of talent God has blessed us with] and the other is indifference. I have been in a lot of services and I have never been in a more anointed and powerful praise service. These guys are good and we are going to have to get a video. I guarantee it will go viral. Catfish is our new Tech, we will get him on this project.

• Keri’s appointment with Mayo is June 1.
• Mrs. Clara is sick…two problems….I think they will be going to B’ham tomorrow.
• Mrs. Pope {Robert’s Mom} was better when I visited her on Tuesday.
