Then Jesus spoke up and answered his thoughts. “Simon,” He said to the Pharisee, “I have something to say to you.”

~Luke 7:40, NLT

Jesus knows everything, even the thoughts we repress.

my thoughts red

Simon the Pharisee got himself in a bit of hot water. The lady who came in off of the street to wash Jesus feet with her tears and dry them with her hair had a bad reputation. As she washes Jesus feet and kisses them repeatedly, Simon thinks to himself, “If this man was a prophet from God, He would know what kind of person is kissing His feet.” Simon never said a word but Jesus turned and answered his thoughts.

How would you like to hang out with a person who could answer your thoughts. This is why Peter said to Jesus in Luke 5, “Lord get away from me, I am a sinful man.” This is why the Roman Centurion sent messengers to Jesus instead of going in person. He felt unworthy to be in His presence. It is very humbling to know that He knows. You cannot hide anything from Jesus, anything!

  • 50% of Christian men view porn.
  • 20% of Christian women view porn.

  • Porn sites get more hits than Netflix and Amazon.

Scripture: I Thessalonians 4:3-8 (NIV)

It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God; and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit.

The Greek word translated ‘immorality’ is porneia and it means illicit sexual intercourse–adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals or sexual intercourse with close relatives {Incest}.

Paul gives us three Guidelines

  1. Avoid sexual immorality.
  2. Practice self-control.
  3. Don’t take advantage of others.

The big problem on the internet is that you do not have to look for porn, it looks for you.

  1. What are some things we can do to combat porn?
  2. Should children be allowed unrestricted internet access?
  3. We will not drift toward sexual purity. We have to decide in advance that we will not yield to temptation.
  4. How has culture helped or hurt in the matter of sexual purity.
  5. How can sex outside of marriage be beneficial?
  6. What are some of the problems created when people have sex outside of marriage?
  7. How many people were affected by David’s affair with Bathsheba? Did anyone get hurt?
  8. Why do people think there  are the exception to the rule?
  9. What is wrong with accountability? Why do we shun being held accountable?
  10. Would it help if we did not talk about the porn problem? If we pretend it does not exist, will it go away?
