If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.

~Ephesians 4:28, NLT

The two primary motivations for stealing are greed and laziness.

~Ja’akov [Adapted from a statement in A CHALLENGE TO A NEW GENERATION]

Revival Strip

I assume there are other things that prompt men to steal. I would suppose that a man might be forced to steal to survive in some circumstances but this is not the case in our present culture. The right to owe property is a God given fundamental human right and stealing violates that right. Our basic human dignity is tied up in this right to own property and it stings when someone steals something which we worked hard to acquire. John Hancock may not have joined the American revolution had not King George seized his property including ships and house. The right to owe property was one of the basic tenants  that fueled the American Revolution.

How many acts of theft does it take to make a thief? How many hard working folks do you know who steal for a living? Is cheating on your taxes a form of theft? Is robbing God of His tithes and offerings actually stealing? Is the imbalance of wealth and excuse for stealing? Do rich people have the right to be rich? Do poor people have a right to steal? Do poor people have the right to be poor when they refuse to work?

It takes only one lie to make a liar and only one act of theft to make a thief. What can I say, I am guilty of both but I do not wish to be either a thief or liar. By the grace of God, I will be honest in my dealings with others and I will not take what belongs to someone else because I know the disappointment of being defrauded.

  • I know you need some kind of explanation about the subject of the blog. I am preparing for the WINTER BIBLE STUDY at Sardis Springs and the second chapter is on the TEN COMMANDMENTS and one section on stealing. David Dykes and the SONS OF LIBERTY {History Channel Series} inspired me. No one has taken anything from me lately: that I am aware of but I can make a list of the past: Riding Mower {Orange John Deer, $1,700} husqvarna Chain Saw {$240.00}, Box Blade {came with my tractor}, Makita 8-Volt Litthiumion cordless drill {$175}, to name a few. They just popped into my mind. I am sure there are more.
  • Today we pray for MINISTERS and MISSIONARIES: Why don’t we pray for Joe David today as he travels. Monday is his seminary day and road conditions are not supposed to be good. Pray for Bro. Phil and Teresa as they travel back to Memphis.
  • Arrangements for KENNY HOLLADAY’S CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE is Tuesday at 1:00 at Danville Baptist Church. Visitation is from 11:00-1:00. We will be serving the family a meal after the graveside at FRIENDSHIP. The fine folks at FRIENDSHIP are letting us use their fellowship hall. This will make it easier on the family. Jennifer Garner is our Team Leader and Mandy is going to help. The church will get the meat, bread and drinks. You help us with vegetables. You can bring them to our church and we will transport them.
  • Pic below: back row Frankie, James, Paul, Buren, and Kenny. Bottom row, Sheila, Elaine, Mrs. Ona [Mother] and Barbara. I want to commend all of them all. In 65 years, I have never seen a closer family. Please pray for Kenny’s Mom, Mrs. Ona. She is 99 and reads her bible avidly, hours a day. She and Kenny were very close and she is taking this hard.
