Paul tried religion, it made him mean, hypocritical and antichrist, plus it left him empty, lonely and dreadfully unfulfilled. America does not need another denomination. We don’t need a new brand of religion. We have tons of religion. Everybody and their brother is religious. What America needs is Jesus. What the Baptist Church needs is Jesus. We don’t need more space, more buses, more equipment, more money, more publicity or more members like the ones we already have; what we need is more Jesus. Only Jesus can make us real: religion produces the morally elite social do-gooder who for the most part is a hypocrite.

• Today we pray for those having trials: Kenny Holladay, Larry Garner, Linda Dutton, Jackie Steele, Mark Elliott, Jo Ann Clark, Wendy, Mike Landers, Floyd Bailey, Angie Blackburn, Barney Ray Sessums, Daphne Hutto,  and the David Andrews family.
• Another huge crowd last night and my group is even growing. AWANA had 130 which is a record, all total we had 205. The next two Wednesday nights will be different: Stew and hay rides next Wednesday and Revival the following. Our next Chick-Fil-A supper is November 12.
• DHS Girls high school volleyball in Regional Tournament Friday at the Von Braun Civic Center at 10:00 am.
• Feed the Team [DHS football] Friday at 7:00, Parlor Kitchen.
• SAMARITAN PROJECT Saturday 7:30 AM…Coats and Jackets to the park.
• JERUSALEM PROJECT Saturday 8:30 AM…Putting in a handicap ramp
• African A cupola Choir Sunday am service.
• Senior Adult Fish Fry October 31, 11:30 am.
• TRUNK-A-TREAT Friday October 31, 5:30-6:15
• Time change November 2
• REVIVAL November 2-5 with Wade Morris.
• VETERAN’S DAY–November 11

Shortly after the U.S. airstrikes began in Northern Iraq, a fleeing ISIS terrorist, desperate for water, was plodding through the desert when he saw something far in the distance. Hoping to find water, he hurried toward the oasis, only to find a little old Kurdish man at a small stand, selling ties. The ISIS terrorist asked, “Do you have water?” The Kurdish man replied, “I have no water. Would you like to buy a tie? They are only $5.” The terrorist shouted, “Idiot! I do not need an over-priced tie. I need water! I should kill you, but I must find water first!” “OK,” said the old Kurdish man. “It does not matter that you do not want to buy a tie and that you hate me. I will show you that I am bigger than that. If you continue over that hill to the west for about two miles, you will find a lovely restaurant. It has all the ice-cold water you need.” Cursing, the ISIS terrorist staggered away over the hill. Several hours later he staggered back, almost dead and said, “Your stupid Kurdish brother won’t let me in without a tie!”
