Day 9 of 24/24

 SCRIPTURE

Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you.

~1 Samuel 12:23, NKJV

QUOTE

Joyless believers are self-centered, selfish, proud, and often vengeful and their self-centeredness inevitably manifests itself in prayerlessness.

my thoughts red

Celebrate Jesus.crimsonjpgSome forty years ago, a leader in the church where I was serving came forward on the invitation and said, “Pastor, so far as I know, I have not committed any sins of commission but I am guilty of sins of omission.” I liked the man and he became a good friend but what he said disturbed my mind. I think we humans have categorized sin: we have good sins and bad sins. I think what he was saying, “I have not done anything bad but there are some good things that I have not got around to doing.” I can give you a list of these good sins Baptist don’t get around to doing: tithing, visiting the sick, visiting nursing homes and neighbors, helping people in need, being faithful in worship attendance and witnessing just to name a few. The one that I didn’t put on the list is one of the worse; we don’t pray but that is not the worse–we don’t see not praying as a sin.

The ramp in the FORTE was not my idea. For good reason, I have never shared who suggested building the ramp. The PRAYER WHEEL was not my idea either but God is going to bless it. The unfortunate thing is the names that are not on the wheel that should be. Yes, it is an inconvenience; after all, it is not normal to get up at 2:30 a.m. in the morning but desperate people do desperate things. How desperate are we for REVIVAL? Obviously, some do not sense the greatness of the need. You may think your failure to pray is a weakness but it is not; it is a sin. I don’t think we are going to get a pat on the back and a well done for ceasing to pray when we know God gives to those who ask. We have not because we ask not.

  • No 5th Quarter tonight–canceled due to lack of interest.
  • Today we pray for FAMILY.
  • SUNDAY IS PINK OUT OR PINK IT UP!
  • FRONT PEW SHOWER for Sav-A-Life this Sunday. I was going to run a list of items you can bring but the list is gone. I know you can bring diapers. This is a good cause and we need to give them our support. We appreciate Sally leading us. I think this is a JUDEA PROJECT.
  • We have another SAMARITAN PROJECT coming October 25. Gary and team are going to Birmingham to carry blankets, coats etc. I don’t like to ask you to bring two things on one Sunday but this is the last Sunday before the project.
  • I got in a habit of doing the blogs when I came home from work but the prayer wheel forced me to go to bed early. I have been doing them between mid-night and 4:00 am but last night I crashed. My head is clearer in the morning. I may do them in the mornings from now until the REVIVAL. This would also give me a proof reader.
