Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

~Ephesians 6:7, NLT

Honest labor bears a lovely face.

If you love what you do it helps but even those of us who love our jobs have bad days. There are times when any job can become trying and even frustrating. Even profession athletes get into slumps. No matter what kind of work you do, you will have some bad days. What about those who hate their work but they feel a sense of obligation to provide for their families and this particular job was the only thing available. These are the people that Paul is speaking to: if you read the first six verses of chapter seven, Paul is addressing slaves so keep in mind, your situation could be worse. Eugene Peterson translates Paul words like this… “Work with a smile on your face, always keeping in mind that no matter who happens to be giving the orders, you’re really serving God.” You cannot fail when your goal is to please Christ. As a matter of fact, once you understand who you are working for, your work can become an act of worship.

  • Two days without rain: I may be able to plow in the garden today{June 14}…Hallelujah! Two weeks from now, I will probably be praying for rain. I did something that almost always stops rain…I transplanted some plants…3 roses bushes and some monkey grass. All my tomatoes {80 plants} are dying except a half a dozen but the corn looks good.
  • Sunday Schedule: Father’s Day breakfast 8:30, biscuits, donuts, coffee…LCBS 9:00 {Lesson on God’s Justice}, worship celebration at 10:15 and no pm services.
