celebrate Jesus Son of God

This world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.

~Hebrews 13:14, NLT

The fact that our heart yearns for something Earth can’t supply is proof that Heaven must be our home.

~C.S. Lewis

my thoughts red

Some things we control and some we do not. Time is one of those areas where we have no control. I’m just three years away from my 50th high school class reunion and will be 65 in August: neither seem possible but both are real. I remember Adrian Rogers telling about his 55th birthday. He looked into the mirror and saw a gray hair or two and then remarked to his wife Joyce, “I’m about to be middle aged,” she laughed and replied, “How many men do you know who are 110?” You can fight it or deny it but you can’t stop it: the clock keeps on ticking. Some folks despise labels but if you are 65, you are a Senior Adult, get used to it. Matter of fact, if I were you, I would celebrate it! You can let your hair grow to pony tail length but it will not make you younger or even look younger. Wearing tight pants, holy pants, hot pants or low riders is not going to change the fact that you are getting older. Plastic surgery will not stop the process of time and its effects on our body of clay. Fat people die but so do the skinny. Nothing stops time other than our physical death. Like it our not, you need to prepare for eternity. I am not being ugly, I am being honest: don’t drive your tent stakes too deep, we are not staying here; this world is not our home and for me personally, this is good news.

  • Great crowd last night and good service. I got excited; the most I’ve had to preach to in while.
  • Yesterday was a frightening day but we are relieved that Mason Asherbranner is going to be OK after falling from the high dive in Hartselle and landing on the concrete. The teenagers wouldn’t like it but I hope they either shut that board down or make is safe, this is the second child that has fell in the last 5 or so years.
  • Joe Fitzgerald’s grand baby {Charlie} is in Huntsville Womens and Children, UTI.
  • Lori, Dena, Bev and the General fly out of Huntsville International this morning. First flight out I think. They are leaving home at 4:00 am. They will meet with Teddy and a group from Friendship in Atlanta en route to Guatemala for a week of fun in the sun. {Teddy will work them into the ground}
  • We found out today that Adam’s mother is better: she had a kidney stone last week which made everything worse. She is doing better now but still battles cancer.
