celebrate Jesus Son of God

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

~Psalm 133:1

A wall with loose bricks is not good.

~Corrie ten Boom

I beg you brothers, to keep on the look-out for those who stir up divisions and put hindrances in your way, in opposition to the instructions you have been given. Avoid these people always because they are not serving our Lord Jesus Christ but their own base appetites, and by their fair and flattering talk they are deceiving the hearts of unsuspecting people. I want you to be wise about what is good and innocent about what is bad. Now the peace-giving God will soon crush Satan under your feet. The spiritual blessing of the LORD Jesus be with you.

The words above came from the middle of Romans 16 in the Charles E. Williams translation. William does not have the verses numbered but this passage starts at verse 17. Ron Dunn believed this to be the best English translation of the market. It took me a while to get into it but I love it. This passage really got my attention.

  • Tim and Wally did a good job at Mr. Screws COLS and Jethro sang: the boy can do practically anything. Mrs. Screws is at Summerfords for rehab and did not get to attend the service. Tim preached his first sermon at DBC and Mr. Screws was in the audience. Tim visited him a month ago and he told Tim what he preached on and where he got his text and this happened 34 years ago. To be honest with you, I had forgotten. Tim told us the text in his message and I have forgotten again. It may have been Luke, I think chapter two…Jesus grew is wisdom, stature and favor of men…I think.  Mr. Screws taught our Senior Adult Men’s class and when they moved to East Highland he became the teacher of their Senior Adult Men. Wally said that someone dug out an old church directory that had Mr. Screws pictured with his class. Everyone in the class has been promoted. Folks, we are camping out here on this earth; it is not our home. We will not be staying here long so don’t drive your tent stakes too deep.
