Transforming The Cross

April 9, 2014

Celebrate Jesus-forth1

SCRIPTURE

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world.

Galatians 6:14, AV

QUOTE

The death which they thought to inflict on Him as dishonor and disgrace has become the glorious monument of death’s defeat and the believer’s victory.

~Athanasius

my thoughts red

Who else but Jesus could transform the despicable cross from a thing of horror and shame to a symbol of hope and victory. Constantine was the first to use the cross as a symbol of our faith. I do question his motives but he got something started and now the cross dots the landscape of America and much of the world. On the way to Birmingham, you will see a huge million dollar cross on the left [Gardendale Baptist Church]. Going to Pigeon Forge, you will see two huge crosses. We have three on our front lawn and one at the entrance of the foyer which you will not see unless you look closely. No one associates the cross with shame anymore: Jesus has forever transformed the cross.

If Jesus can transform the ugly, despicable, cruel Roman cross: think of what He can do with your life.

  • Congratulations to the DHS Girls softball and boys baseball for winning the area, or at least getting home field advantage for the tournament.
  • Wanda Yarbrough [Cindy’s Tyson’s mom] had a hip replacement yesterday. Everything went well.
  • More cold weather on the way I think but only for a couple of days: Big Mama says we will have a nice weekend.
