Ten Words

The next day there was a wedding celebration in the village of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration. The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.”

~John 2:1-3, NLT

Worry is paying interest on trouble that may never come.

~Robert C. Savage

How do you handle problems? Do you explode in anger? Do you stew in anxiety? Do you begin looking around for someone to blame? Do you panic or go berserk? Mary did none of the above. She defined the problem, “They have no more wine,” and she went straight to the solution which happened to be her Son. She did first what we often do as a last resort. Jesus said, “Woman, My time hasn’t come yet.” Jesus must have winked an eye when He called her woman. She turned to the servants and said,  “Do whatever He tells you.” When I read this scripture last night I noticed that in English, we have ten words. In ten words, Mary defined the problem and secured the solution. She did not waste words; she was simple, articulate and direct? Mary not only sets a great example, she teaches us some valuable lessons:

  1. Define the problem.
  2. Discuss it with Jesus.
  3. Do whatever He says to do.

  • Praise the LORD from Whom all blessing flow. We finished the WBS in three nights and had clear roads and safe travel. We had a very good time. There was a lot of liberty and we appreciate Tim and Sardis Springs for putting up with us. We went ahead and wrapped it up last night in case we get another snow.
  • We will do a phone message sometime today to let you know about tonight. I got in too late last night to talk to Shohn or Joe David. The weather forecasters seem to be pretty sure about the snow and if I had to guess; I would say everything will probably be canceled but I would like to wait and see what happens.
  • I cannot remember if I mentioned it yesterday but our MISSION OFFERING last Sunday was great. We are less than $1,000 from our goal. Way to go DBC. I am proud of you.
