COMMENTARY

My mother was very frugal; I never remember her being wasteful with money but she was not selfish, very tight but not selfish. She had a heart for the less fortunate. We use to kid her about being the less fortunate ourselves but she never bought it. We had a neighbor, a single woman who lived across the field from our house, less than a quarter of mile away. She was mentally challenged and someone took advantage of her and she got pregnant and had a son. the child grew up without a father and he and his mom lived on the bare necessities. Every year mother would buy Christmas for this child. She did it until he was a teenager. She would have it all packed and my brothers and I would deliver on Christmas Eve around midnight. The child was intelligent and if my memory serves me correctly, he eventually graduated college and when into social services. The last I heard of him, he was a director at some type of Children’s home. I don’t have a single doubt, it is more fun to give than to  receive, and it always more blessed to be the one able to give. Thank God for the ability to give!

EXTRA

I want to commend David and the choir and also Shohn and the Children for the special Christmas programs yesterday and last night. Shohn does an incredible job and she has some good help in Stephanie Moore, Beth and Zeb Jones and Lisa Osborn. They did good working with our children and we appreciate it.

  1. Amen Brother Jack! We are blessed to have Shohn and David — not to mention those who help them.
