Christmas Gifts

December 12, 2013

my hope Christmas

And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

~Matthew 2:11, NKJV

Giving is true having.

~Charles Spurgeon

The word for treasure means box or chest: so the wise men actually brought a treasure chest and from it they presented gifts to Christ. Gold for a King, frankincense for a Priest and myrrh for a Savior and of course Jesus is all of these things and more. Joseph and Mary were poor. Some think they used the gold to take their trip to Egypt to avoid the sword of Herod. The gifts were fitting, needed, appreciated and noble. Most men, even wise ones, have some regrets but I can assure you these men never had any regret about giving these gifts. In giving their treasure, they created a greater treasure.

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas. We had a hand full for supper last night as the youth went to Briarwood and the Adults didn’t meet. We’ll be setting up the props for the Children’s play today and hopefully get some visiting done. We didn’t have great day physically yesterday but we feel better today. Lord willing, we are going back to the great FBC in Grand Bay January 12-15 for a REVIVAL which is less than a month away. The choir will be doing Christmas music this week and Joe David preaching.
