Your Treasure

December 2, 2013

my hope ChristmasSCRIPTURE

They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

~Matthew 2:11, NLT

QUOTE

The unregenerate person can say no good thing, can do no truly good thing – that is, no thing which advances the Kingdom of God and ultimately glorifies Him.

~John MacArthur

COMMENTARY

The wise men opened their treasure chest and gave Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. You have a treasure in your chest and the only thing that you can get out of it is what is in it. If you are an unbeliever and don’t know Christ, you can’t get any good out of it, because there is no good in it. Every man’s heart is a storehouse, a depository and what is stored there will spill out of his mouth. Jesus said, Your words will be used to judge you.”  What you have said will show whether you are right or whether you are guilty. So the Lord says, then, that you can be judged by your own words. The objective criteria by which God can determine your eternal destiny can be the record of what you say, for an evil person will never confess that Jesus the Savior is good. No one will enter heaven that does not see goodness in Jesus.
