SCRIPTURE

“Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus… let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience.”

~Hebrews 10:20,22, NKJV

QUOTE

“You need not cry very loud; God is nearer to us than we think.”

~Bro. Lawrence

COMMENTARY

When Joshua and the Israelites were crossing the Jordan to enter the Promised Land, no one was allowed to get within 1,000 feet of the Ark of the Covenant. The only exceptions were the Levites who carried it and the attending priest. Everyone else had to keep their distance. The Ark was a symbol of God’s presence and since God is holy, no one was allowed to come near. Jesus changed everything. Because He cleansed us of our sin with His blood we now have confidence to draw near. In the Old Testaments, there were limits and boundaries. None priest could go so far and that was it, you could not go further and even the priest were limited. Christ broke down all the walls and barriers. You can get as close to God as your heart desires. “The LORD draws near to every man that calls upon Him, will he but call upon Him with a true heart.” [Psalm 145:18, KNOX]

EXTRA

  • The Celebration of Life Service for Betty McNee [Mary Stephenson’s mom] will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Valhalla Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, AL 35811. No visitation, just a grace side service at 10:00.
  • Sandra Segars is sick but not in hospital. She went to Hospital but they gave her two new meds and let her go home for some much needed rest. Jimmy is in Birmingham. He says that they are going to try to remove the NG again. They did it once and had to put it back in but they are going to try again and reduce her meds and begin waking her up. He told June that the surgery is not out but they want her to get about three weeks of rest.
  • Charlie Thompson is getting better daily and will be transferred to Health South in B’ham in the next few days. I sure wish they had said Huntsville. He is going to watch the game but like me, he will be glad when it’s over. June and I stopped at Walmart in Gardendale yesterday and we were looking for some cake pans and about to go to check out when some idiot several isles over screamed to the top of his lungs “War Eagle”…I bet you can guess what that set off…three other idiots yelled “Roll Tide.” I wish that was an omen but afraid not. Big Mama grabbed me by the arm and said, “Let’s get out of here before you get into a fight.”
  • Behind this year on decorating. I usually do what little I do on Thanksgiving Day but not this year. Finally got the manger scene out last night. Too little time and even less energy.
Let's Pray its not this kind of day!

  1. Your neighbors are really disappointed that you’re behind on the decorating…
