Prayer For REVIVAL in America

Prayer For REVIVAL in America

SCRIPTURE

The men from Ephraim had their weapons, but they ran from the battle.

~Psalms 78:9, ERV

QUOTE

Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality that guarantees all the others.

~Winston Churchill

COMMENTARY

The tribe of Ephraim was one of Israel’s largest tribes, they had more land, more people and more resources; they also had more pride. They were well-trained and wore impressive uniforms but they were not known for their valor. Gideon didn’t use them until he was ready to mop up the spoils; Deborah and Barak didn’t use them at all. The men of Ephraim loved Memorial Day Parades and target practice but when it came to battle, they cut and run. They could not handle conflict. They looked rough and rugged on the outside but they had weak hearts and could not stand under pressure. When push came to shove, the Ephraimites highest priority was self-preservation.

EXTRA

Great turnout for Senior Adult Tailgate Party. I think we got more compliments on yesterday’s meal than any we have served. If my math is right, we had 32 and that was with a couple of our regulars missing. The pic below was made with my I-phone. It does not make good pictures. Some of our folks left before we took the pic. We have a full schedule Sunday: Deacons Meeting at 8:00, LCBS at 9:00 and worship at 10:15 and 6:00.

We have a lot of special events happening on Sunday night this fall: The guys are planning a cook-out on Sunday night October 27 and we are going to begin at 5:00 instead of 6:00. Our Luke 14 Banquet is November 17 and then Shohn and the Children’s leadership team are planning a kind of living story of Jesus life on November 24. It will be a station to station event where you walk through the life of Jesus from birth to crucifixion or maybe resurrection. Then they are also planning a Children’s Christmas play that will be on Sunday night in December.
