Prayer For REVIVAL in America

SCRIPTURE

Now Laban had two daughters. The older was Leah and the younger was Rachel. Leah’s eyes were gentle, but Rachel was beautiful.  Jacob loved Rachel, so he said to Laban, “I will work seven years for you if you will allow me to marry your daughter Rachel.”

~Genesis 29:16-18, ERV

QUOTE

“If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it. If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it. He sends you flowers every spring and a sunrise every morning… Face it, friend. He is crazy about you! ”

~Max Lucado

COMMENTARY

Jacob fell in love with Rachel the younger sister of Leah. Laban deceitfully switches them on the wedding night and Jacob wakes up with Leah instead of Rachael. Leah had weak eyes or some think crossed eyes and Rachel was beautiful in every way.  Jacob must have consumed a lot of wine not to have recognized the switch until the next morning. Laban not only sinned against Jacob, he hurt his two daughters especially Leah. Jacob had to wait 7 days before he could marry Rachel and the rivalry began and Leah could not win. Leah conceived and gave Jacob a son and named him Reuben [look I have a son]. She thought to herself, “The Eternal has blessed me and now my husband will love me.” Leah has a second son, Simeon [heard] saying to herself, “The Eternal has heard that I am disliked, so He has given me another son. The cycle continues and nothing changes: Jacob loved Rachel and Lead was tolerated. You are in a lose/lose whenever you are in competition for someone’s love. The good news is that there is no competition in the Kingdom of Christ. How He does it is beyond me, but He loves each person unconditionally and perfectly. You may not know it or feel it, but you are loved supremely.

EXTRA

Wild and wacky day yesterday as predicted. I was in Courtland in the a.m., Falkville at noon and at Chloe Bugs B’day party when the sun went down. I don’t even want to talk about football. I guess it is a good thing that I did not have time to sit down and watch the game. I have had two very busy weeks and believe it or not, I am looking forward to some rest on the plane. Joe David will be preaching today and Tyler Watts Beck will be leading the praise and worship. I hope DBC has a great day. I’m loading the Titan. Hope to see you all next Sunday. Grandkids: G-Dog loves you!
