Glory In An Egg
September 14, 2013
SCRIPTURE
Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.
~I John 3:2, NKJV
QUOTE
There are three things which the true Christian desires in respect to sin: Justification, that it may not condemn; sanctification, that it may not reign; and glorification, that it may not be.
~Richard Cecil
COMMENTARY
We don’t think highly of eggs other than for satisfying our appetite. We don’t use them as home decor or make them a part of a collection. I can’t remember the last time I heard someone praising an egg for it’s appearance: “My, my, that is one beautiful egg” or “Wow, what a magnificent egg!” An egg is an egg, right? Not exactly: there is great potential is some eggs. Actually, there is glory in some eggs, just not in the egg stage. An egg has the potential of soaring above the clouds; that is, an eagle egg. Right now, we are in the egg stage. We don’t look like much but when Christ is revealed, we shall be made like Him. Right now, we do good to walk but one day we will soar. “O that will be glory for me and for every believer in Christ.”
EXTRA
Saturday is usually a Visitation/Study day as I prepare for Sunday but today I will be preparing for the Guatemala trip. Don and I are going to try to make one visit this morning and then I have some last minute details like hook up the trailer for the luggage, then Big L’s football game and then I might watch the Alabama game and then at 6:00, the Chloe Bug is one year old and we will have her party at Aunt-T’s. If the party is anything like her, it will be wild. Big Mama is wanting to send her to Guatemala with me but that aint happening. Chloe Bug’s attention span is right at 3 seconds: she makes Ty look sedate. After Brett’s Grandmothers COLS yesterday, J.D. and I ate at Jim and Nicks in Jasper. The waitress told me that she thought Cullman was getting one this November. I could handle that! Forgot to mention it yesterday but Steve Tanner came by the office Thursday for a visit. We miss his presence but not his prayers: he is still a faithful intercessor for us, PTL. I told him that he needed to come see us one Sunday morning.
