Prayer For REVIVAL in America

Prayer For REVIVAL in America

SCRIPTURE

The Lord made Pharaoh stubborn again, so he refused to let them go. Then Pharaoh told Moses, “Get out of here. I don’t want you to come here again. The next time you come to see me, you will die!” Then Moses told Pharaoh, “You are right about one thing. I will not come to see you again.”

~Exodus 10:27-29, ERV

QUOTE

To the one who delights in the sovereignty of God the clouds not only have a ‘silver lining’ but they are silvery all through, the darkness only serving to offset the light!

~A.W. Pink

COMMENTARY

Pharaoh, who is a type of our flesh, is very predictable. He is stubborn and filled with foolish pride. He will do practically anything to get his way and that includes acts of devotion such as confession and repentance. He is a negotiator who is willing to make some concessions so long as he retains control but there in lies the illusion. Pharaoh is not in control, he only appears to be in control. Moses understood Who was in control. In their last meeting, Pharaoh gets angry and threatens Moses, “The next time you come in here” said Pharaoh, “You will die.” This ticked Moses who said, “You are right about one thing, I will not come see you again.” Pharaoh thought he controlled the power of life and death; thus he threatened Moses with death. Moses did not feel threaten because he knew that Pharaoh was the one who was going to die.  Even the Egyptians begged Pharaoh to let the Israelites go. They saw that his war against God and the persecution of His people was going to lead to their destruction. It is foolish to resist the will of God because the final results have already been determined. If man could thwart God’s purpose, He would not be Sovereign. If He was not sovereign, He would not be trustworthy.

EXTRA

Vellene should be home by now and I will check on Kenny today. He has to sleep in a certain position and he got too far to one side and that caused him to aspirate. He was feeling better yesterday morning. The gathering tonight at 6:30, AWANA at 6:15 and Supper at 5:30. We are packing for Guatemala. Everyone is getting excited except Ty and Jace. Pray for the little fellows and for Mandy who has come down with a cold.

YOUTH ROOM open house will be Sunday September 22 from 8:45-10:00. The donuts and coffee [and other things will be served from their room]. We are not through, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I do wish we had an elevator–it would help but there is little chance of getting one in time for the open house. There is one at Teddy’s daddy-in-laws lake house that would be perfect. I need to find out where they got it and how much it cost. I went up and down those steps about 20 times yesterday and I was mumbling under my breath. I sure wish Adam had not shot that elevator idea down. [I am kidding Adam]

  1. Oh make no mistake, the elevator – or lack there of – is all on Adam…
