COMMENTARY

Let me ask you a question: do you want to be a bad person or do you have a deep desire to be a good person. Very few of us want to be evil. We do not want to have outburst of rage [road or other]. We don’t want to have contempt for others or be obsessed with lust. We don’t really want to curse, coerce, or manipulate others but we do. We are like Paul in Romans 7…I want to do what is good, but I don’t do it. I don’t do the good that I want to do. I do the evil that I don’t want to do. So if I do what I don’t want to do, then I am not really the one doing it. It is the sin living in me that does it. Why would Jesus command us to be perfect as He is perfect unless He intended by the power of His grace to make us perfect. Dallas Willard says, “Jesus actually knows how to enable people to be good.” I am not good but I am willing and anxious for Him to make me good. I think it is the deepest desire of my heart.

Another great day and another very good PM service. Words cannot express how proud I am of our young people and I was very blessed by service last night and all who prayed. It was a big day yesterday for the DBC family. Our first actual front pew shower went great: Maggie was tickled to death and even Freddie was excited. We have another one in two weeks for Shylar Foreman and Audrey McClanahan. We want to thank Bro. Tom and Shady Grove for the FRONT PEW idea. We love it! Jennifer, Suzanne and Freddie also threw Betty Sue a Birthday party. Everything went well. Pray for Vellene: she is having surgery this morning at DGH.
