Prayerless Praying

November 24, 2012

SCRIPTURE: The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed this prayer: ‘I thank you, God, that I am not a sinner like everyone else. For I don’t cheat, I don’t sin, and I don’t commit adultery. I’m certainly not like that tax collector. I fast twice a week, and I give you a tenth of my income.’ [Luke 18:11-12, NLT]

QUOTE: Prayerless praying gets no results. ~E. M. Bounds

COMMENTARY: I had never heard of ‘Prayerless Praying’ until I read E.M. Bounds Purpose In Prayer. Prayerless praying is prayer without heart, humility, passion, sincerity and honesty. The Pharisee in Luke 18 is a perfect example. His prayer never got higher than the ceiling. In truth, he was talking to himself. Folks, we have some problems that man can not fix, we need divine intervention. We need men and women who have a burden to pray, not say prayers but pray prayers.

EXTRA: Today is Hugh’s Birthday and if my math is right, he is 88. He attended the LUKE 14 Feast a year ago and it was about this time that he went to Hartselle and then from there to Summerford.
