If I Could Visit Heaven

August 15, 2011

SCRIPTURE: “Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this.” At once I was in a Spirit-inspired trance and I saw a throne in heaven, and someone was seated on the throne. {Revelation 4:1-2, CEB}

QUOTE: If we saw heaven, we could not bear to live any longer on this earth. Charles Allen

THOUGHT: Heaven is a beautiful city without a cemetery.

COMMENTARY: God allowed John to experience what no other man has ever experienced: via the Spirit, He gave John a glimpse of heaven. In 1986 I traveled to Nigeria which is located in the elbow of Africa. It was my first time to leave the U.S.A. I have never met a more gracious people than the Africans: they treated me like a celebrity. However, the masses, the mismanagement of resources, the gross poverty, the cheapness of human life and just the chaos really got to me. I loved the people but I was not mature enough to be of any help. I will say this, the visit to Africa changed my life and my perspective. I can honestly say that I have never been the same. What if we could visit heaven? What if we could see what John saw? Would it not change our life and perspective! I believe that it would. [1] It would redefine the true worth of earthy treasures: they are temporal and unsatisfying. If you can put a price tag on it: it has no lasting value. Instead of laying up treasures in heaven, we collect  tomorrowsctrash that will burn in the great fire.  [2] It would rekindle our spiritual joy and we would experience a much-needed revival. [3] It would renew our hope and put a song in our heart instead on a complaint on our lips. [4] It would remind us that God is in absolute control. John saw a throng and the One sitting on it. [5] It would reaffirm the truth that salvation is by grace. Everyone we talked to in heaven would have the same testimony. “How did you get here sir or madam?” And the answer would always be, “By the blood of the Precious Lamb, the Lord Jesus”. Everyone there will be talking about Jesus.

EXTRA:  Holly made some pictures and I will run a few per day. I have to upload them one at a time which explains why I usually have one, three or four at most.
