Passive Or Active?

SCRIPTURE: But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today…the LORD Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm. [Exodus 14:13-14, NLT]

QUOTE: Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony. Thomas Merton

THOUGHT: The Lord will do one of two things: He will either fight the battle for us or He will lead us into battle: either way, our eyes must be upon our Commander-in-Chief.

COMMENTARY: Isaiah the prophet told the Jewish nobles, “This is what the LORD God, the holy One of Israel has said, ‘In repentance and rest you will be saved. In quietness and trust is your strength.'” This is in reference to the Sennacherib Crisis where the Assyrians had ┬áthe Jews surrounded and out numbered. God told Isaiah that He would take care of the Assyrians by Himself without the aid of a human sword. There are times when we are to “wait upon the Lord”. There are times when He wants us to simply trust Him to get the job done. Then there are times when He commands us to go. At the Red Sea, God told Moses, “This is no time for a prayer meeting, tell the children of Israel to go forward.” There is a time to sit quietly, waiting on the Lord and there is a time to move forward boldly trusting God to use us in accomplishing His mission. Passive believers are practically useless: they are all talk, just a lot of hot air. When it comes to being boldly aggressive, they prefer to stay in their prayer closets. It is their comfort zone, they safe place. On the other hand, the Commando’s hate waiting and they charge into battle with or without the LORD’s command or blessing. Bro. Calvin Inman use to say repeatedly, “The most difficult thing in the Christian life is finding the proper balance”. A good army knows when to charge and when to retreat. Sometimes it takes both to win a war.

EXTRA: Thanks to Mike Steelman, we have the Ice Bin freezing cold and we are getting ready for Saturday. What about all this rain. We can’t even get in the garden for the mud. As Keith says, “Unbelievable”. I’ll take the rain over a draught any day. Cool front coming in on Wednesday. Is the LORD good or what!
